ABOUT US

The Vision of Grace Apostolic Church is to Reach inward to nourish and strengthen the membership through the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the teaching of the Apostles’ Doctrine; Reach outward into the community of mankind with “soup, soap, and salvation”. We will use our prayers, our finances, and our hands for missionary work at home and around the world

OUR MISSION

The mission of Grace Apostolic Church is to

” . . .grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, giving glory to Him both now and forever. Amen.”

(2 Peter 3:18)

To grow in grace is to become a person of compassion, just like Jesus.

  • We will faithfully provide an atmosphere of love and concern for the membership.

  • We will faithfully be instruments of God for the saving of souls.

  • We will faithfully reach out with evangelical and humanitarian programs providing “soup, soap, and salvation” to a lost and dying world.

To grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is to provide good ground in which our faith can flourish.

  • We will faithfully study to show ourselves approved unto God.

  • We will faithfully learn, remember and share the whole counsel of God, including the New Testament plan of salvation, as preserved for us in the Holy Scriptures.

To give glory to Jesus both now and forever is to be reconciled to God and to be ministers of reconciliation.

  • We will faithfully accept one another as Christ accepts us.

  • We will faithfully assemble together to worship God in the beauty of holiness.

  • We will faithfully evangelize and disciple those who do not know Jesus Christ.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

THE BIBLE

The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God: written by the Holy men of old as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

II Peter 1:20-21.

HIS SACRIFICIAL LOVE

ONE GOD

There is one God who is infinite in power, Holy in nature, attributes and purpose: omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. We believe that He was revealed to us: the Father in creation, the Son in redemption and the Holy Spirit in His comforting grace that never leaves those who trust in Him.

I Corinthians. 8:6; Eph. 4:6;

II Corinthians. 3:17, 5:19

BAPTISM

JESUS CHRIST

In Jesus Christ dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; for it pleased the Father that in Him should all the fullness dwell. Col. 2:9; Col. 1:19. In the virgin birth; Jesus was both human and divine. God manifest in the flesh.. St. Matt. 1:23;

I Tim. 3:16.

We believe in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. We believe that He ascended on high and has sent His Spirit, the Holy Ghost, which was poured out at Jerusalem over 2000 years ago, and is still filling the hearts of those who diligently seek Him today. Acts 2:14.

We believe in water baptism by immersion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost, speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. This constitutes the new birth. Acts 2:4, 38

OUR CHURCH HISTORY

As we look back over the mountains and the valleys of the 30 years, we can truly say that God has been good.  What began as a dream in the heart of District Elder James W. Gaiters, Sr. back in 1993, has become the reality known as Grace Apostolic Church.  God has orchestrated our steps, beginning with the first service at Mohawk Middle School, March 6, 1993 and three short months thereafter at 2501 Mock Road.

Many assisted us in music ministry during those early days, beginning with Sister Esther Banks who sang at the first service. Before a choir was formed, Sisters Loria Moore, Lynn Watiker (Cameron) and Dawne Gaiters (Hill) rehearsed faithfully with Sister Gaiters to render service in song. We were also favored with anointed psalmists including Ron Ryles, Joan Lyles, Quan Howell, Art Mallory, Neil Scott, and others who blessed the services with wonderful music.  The Spirit of the Lord moved throughout the auditorium that first Sunday as the saints gathered at the makeshift altar (stage).  The sermon topic was “His Grace is All I Need”, taken from Ephesians 2:5-9 and II Corinthians 12:9.

On March 13, 1993, Sunday School was instituted with Sister Loris Dearing as adult teacher, Pastor Gaiters with the teens and Sister Carole Moyer teaching the children.  Sister Moyer was also appointed by the pastor as Sunday School Superintendent.  On May 23, 1993, the membership of approximately 85 brought a special sacrificial offering of several thousand dollars to launch the ministry at the new location, the beautiful, almost new facility located at 2501 Mock Road, formerly occupied by Elder Moses Butler and the congregation of First Church of Christ of the Apostolic Way.  On May 30, 1993 Pastor Gaiters preached from Acts 2:14-18.  His subject was entitled, “Celebrating our Heritage”.

The Mock Road facility, which served very adequately as the congregation grew numerically and spiritually, was formally dedicate on July 25, 1995 in a service conducted by Suffragan Bishop Frank McDonald.  It was a most touching and solemn occasion as he led the pastor, trustees, ministers and others on a journey throughout the church, anointing its doors, entrances, foyer and walls.  He took his text from Galatians 3:27-29, appropriately entitling the sermon, “The People of the Utmost”.  Brother Keith Dobbins and the Resurrection Mass Choir concluded the week’s celebration with a full concert that evening.

On October 2000, we were almost bursting at the seas and making plans to remodel and add on to our building, but the Lord performed another miracle and moved Grace Apostolic Church into our present location 1743 East Lakeview Avenue. The Lord continued to bless Grace as we acquired the properties at 2837 Cleveland Avenue and 1746 East Lakeview Avenue, affectionately known as “Myrna’s House”.  As we deepen and strengthen ourselves in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we look ahead expectantly to what He’s going to do next. Hitherto hath the Lord helped us…
